A morning in the cold...

This Saturday morning was cold and frosty but the sun was out and so were we, Chloe, Thierry, Julien (alias "dad, can you carry me?") and me, in a park close to Rambouillet in the southwestern neighborhood of Paris.
The light was contrasty, maybe a bit harsh but nice enough to capture the latest fall colors in northern France.



But this is an animal park, so where are the animals?

Well, they are where they should:

Ducks by the pond...


Deers in the open:

Wild boars in the woods (a whole tribe of it actually):






And some more deers here and there:







All in all a very nice stroll even though the pics are not so good ;-)

Hopefully we'll come back sometimes for a longer stay and maybe I'll be able to get closer to the animals as this guy demonstrates (those Canon guys, alway in the way when you try to take a picture...)

First outing with K10 and DA 12-24f4

Well, it's about time I get some fresh air for my K10!

I took the opportunity of a nice stroll with some fellow photographers to place de la Concorde to try out the effectiveness of the SR system on a "real life" (understand "not from my couch") situation and guess what....?



It seems to work!

I used ISO 640 and shutter speed ranging from 1/6s to 1/2s with some success handheld and pretty much got what I wanted without lugging the tripod.





I haven't yet processed all the pictures but here are a few additional shots from the ferris wheel installed next to the Obelisque for the holiday season to come.





Now I just have to find my next assignment...
